Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions (12:30 p.m. ET) on FOX

The Detroit Lions are on the best way to clinch the NFC North after a strong start with six wins and two defeats before their bye in Week 9. Detroit looks serious on both ends of the ball this year. They are second in the nation in yards per game and fifth in yards allowed per game. Things should look even better with the return of David Montgomery.

The story is completely different with the Packers, who are going through rough times in Matt LaFleur’s fifth season in charge. We all knew this would be a complicated campaign for LaFleur and his troops following the departure of Aaron Rodgers. The team is in the bottom third of the league in offensive (21st) and defensive (22nd) ratings. They improved the atmosphere in the dressing room with a 20-3 drubbing of the Rams on the home patch in Week 9, but we can hardly see them challenging for a place in the playoffs this time.

The Lions stormed past Green Bay by a two-touchdown margin in the reverse clash in Week 4 at Lambeau Field. We can’t expect anything else than another commanding Detroit win in Motor City on Thanksgiving.

Washington Commanders vs. Dallas Cowboys (4:30 p.m. ET) on CBS

Stakes will be high for Dallas and Washington as their Thanksgiving clash might have massive implications for the divisional race and the NFC playoff picture in general. The Cowboys are on a 5-3 record at the mid-season mark. They enter this tie as touchdown favorites on the home patch. The offseason additions have brought much-needed energy and talent as Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore are enjoying fantastic campaigns in 2023. Dallas will be a serious rival to any team in the league before the end of the season.

That said, we do like the Commanders in the role of underdogs here. Washington’s young guns will fight until the last second in every given game, and the fact they’ve managed four wins in nine inaugural weeks speaks volumes. The spread line is too high for our liking, so we’ll go with the Commanders here.

Ole Miss Rebels vs Mississippi State Bulldogs (7:30 p.m. ET) on ESPN

Ole Miss and Mississippi State are ready for another annual Egg Bowl game in the prime-time Thanksgiving night window as they lock horns on November 23 in Starkville, Mississippi. This is the second biggest rivalry in the SEC in terms of games played, dating back to 1901. The Rebels lead the overall series with a 64-47-6 edge.

The Rebels got off to a strong start to the season by winning seven of the opening eight games. They are 4-1 in the league as well. On the other side, the Bulldogs have been struggling a lot with injuries to their key first-team regulars at the beginning of the 2023 campaign, and they only managed four wins in the inaugural nine outings. We have to fancy the Rebels here.

San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks (8:30 p.m. ET) on NBC

A real buzz is expected in and around Lumen Field on Thursday as the top two NFC West sides drop the curtain on a super-exciting Thanksgiving NFL slate. The Seahawks have had a rollercoaster campaign so far in the season, but they still won five of the opening eight outings before the mid-season mark. Nevertheless, the Week 9 catastrophe against the Ravens (3-37) has revealed all the flaws this team has when facing elite opponents.

Despite losing three games on the spin before the bye week, San Francisco can certainly be considered. The 49ers entered the season as one of the main Super Bowl contenders, and they have not been challenged at all during the march towards a 5-0 record before dropping three on the bounce. Based on everything we’ve seen from these two outfits so far in the season, the reigning NFC West champions should have too much for Seattle on Thanksgiving.
