PokerStars Championship Planned for All Three US Markets PokerStars Championship Planned for All Three US Markets

PokerStars' marquee tournament series brand, the Championship of Online Poker (COOP), is coming to the US once again, running across all three PokerStars markets.

From September 10 – 27, NJCOOP, MICOOP, and PACOOP will be running with $4.5 million in guarantees across the three markets.

With the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) currently running in the global market, PokerStars has announced its premier series brand will be returning to the US markets as three series, one for each market it operates in.

There are 190 events scheduled across the three series, with each featuring a $300 buy-in Main Event.

New Jersey Series

As the smallest US market for PokerStars, New Jersey is also the smallest COOP series. With 60 events and $1 million in guarantees, it has both fewer games and smaller overall guarantee. One of the games that was dropped from NJ which appears in other series is a PKO High Roller, but many of the rest of the games are across all markets with different prices and returns.

Pennsylvania Series

The Pennsylvania online poker market is the biggest one in the PokerStars USA stable. As such, PACOOP is bigger than either of the other two series. There is $2 million guaranteed across 65 events, with more value in many cases in PA than other states.

The Big Kickoff is a great example of the increased value. In NJ and MI, the Big Kickoff is a $100 buy-in for $50,000 guaranteed. The PA version has the same $50,000 guarantee attached, but PA players get a shot at that guarantee for just $50.

There will be a lot of value across all the PokerStars US markets this month with three different COOP series. For players in MI and NJ, PokerStars is also offering a free Spin & Go ticket, which could put as much as $5,000 into your bankroll for COOP buy-ins, or whatever else players want to use it for.

This past spring, the operator ran a similar three-state series set under the SCOOP branding, and it was a huge success. There were more than 117,000 entries that combined for more than $6.35 million in total prizes.

This latest set of series looks to be a little more modest than the Spring version, but the final numbers remain to be seen. The COOP series run in NJ, MI, and PA from September 10 through 27, and the full schedules are now up in the lobbies.
