  • “New Betfair Poker” has entered into the “top tier” of the iPoker network.

Betfair Poker has successfully debuted on iPoker with a simultaneous launch on the international and Spanish networks.

The migration away from Ongame and onto iPoker for dot.com players was announced just two weeks ago. During a transitional period of six months, both networks will be available for existing players. From July 2013, Ongame will be dropped for an exclusive iPoker arrangement.

The debut in Spain was first announced back in August 2012, and is the first entry for the Betfair brand into the regulated market.

“New Betfair Poker,” as it is dubbed on the website, has entered into the “top tier” of the iPoker network, as expected. It joins Bet365, Paddy Power, Poker770, Titan, William Hill, Winner and Everest in the cordoned-off poker tables for most of the popular cash games and SNGs spread.

Although Betfair is technically continuing to operate the Ongame skin alongside the iPoker addition, the Ongame room is available to existing players, and the only mention of it on the website is hidden away under a “classic poker” sub-menu on the website.

Betfair, the world’s largest online betting exchange, should bring welcome additional liquidity to the iPoker network, which is jostling with a resurgent PartyPoker and re-entrant Full Tilt Poker for silver medal in the online poker rankings.

For iPoker in Spain, it could bring a welcome boost to a player pool limping behind PokerStars, PartyPoker and 888.
