First WSOP PA Circuit Series of 2022 Crushes Guarantees in First Weekend First WSOP PA Circuit Series of 2022 Crushes Guarantees in First Weekend

After several series with steep overlays in 2021, WSOP PA roared out of the gates in 2022 with a huge early success.

The Online Circuit series that began on Jan 5 on the WSOP PA — one of four Pennsylvania online poker sites — had a massive start, with the first five events coming in more than 66% over the posted guarantees.

The full series has a total guarantee of $535,000 over 12 events, but with just five games in the books so far, the series is well past the 50% for total prizes. To date, more than $350,000 has been collected in prizes for the five Ring events, against guarantees of $210,000 so far.

WSOP PA Online Circuit 2022 — Summary So Far

Events 5
Total Gtd $210,000
Total Prizes $350,560
Average Gtd $42,000
Average Prizes $70,112

In fact, all five events so far have surpassed their guarantee and the current pace puts the first online circuit of 2022 on pace to beat even the guarantee of the first WSOP PA. The inaugural edition of the WSOP PA series failed to meet the more than $600,000 in guarantees, but at the current pace, this Circuit series could finish well north of $800k.

Huge Series Kicks Off the Year

To say the big numbers are a surprise is something of an understatement. While the operator had some success with the first-ever bracelet events in Pennsylvania, it also courted some controversy with geo-locked bracelets available only to PA poker players. However, it also ran into some overlay issues in other series.

The first WSOP PA Circuit series event that ran in Sep 2021 fell short of its guarantee and, later in the year, the Fall Online Championships (FOC) also proved to be of great value for players with big overlays.

That all seems to be history with the dawn of 2022, however. The most recent series on the “WSOP PA:/go/wsoppa-poker client has beaten the guarantee on all of the first five events, and the guarantees have not just been beaten—they have been crushed.

Event #1 More than Doubled its GuaranteeThe first event more than doubled its guarantee of $40,000, coming in at a whopping $88,000 in total prizes. That first event was one of the reduced guarantees in this series, compared to the first PA Circuit — down from $50,000 last year — but even that guarantee would have been left in the dust.

While no other game has doubled its guarantee so far, all games have done quite well. The worst performer was Event #4, which only broke the guarantee by 31%, collecting almost $33k on a $25k guarantee. The biggest value event of the series was Event #5 with a $75,000 guarantee for $215, and it ended with more than 40% extra in prizes, topping $100k.

Other events also performed well. With $30,000 guaranteed, Event #3 saw 278 runners generate a total prize pool of more than $55k, while Event #2 beat its $40,000 guarantee by about two-thirds.

Event #5 $215 $75,000 535 $107,000 42.7%

There is still a lot of value left in the series. There are still seven events remaining with $325,000 guaranteed but, given the success so far, it seems certain there will be more than that to play for.

The bulk of that remaining prize guarantee is locked up in the Main Event, which closes the series on Jan 16. For $525, online poker players will compete for at least $100,000 in prizes, and most likely even more than that.

See below to plan your shot at one of the seven remaining WSOP Gold Circuit rings on offer in PA. Given that prize pools to date that are better than 66% above guarantees, it seems certain there will be a lot of money to play for over the next week on WSOP PA.
