On-the-felt action is underway at the 7th Annual World Series of Poker Europe. This weekend the first of eight bracelets was awarded, while another well-attended bracelet event is headed to an exciting finish.
Jackie Glazier, the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event’s “Last Woman Standing”, was victorious in the €1,100 Ladies Event for a first place prize of €21,850 and her first WSOP Gold Bracelet.
“I’m just so honored to have this title. I mean, after being the 'Last Woman Standing’ in the World Series and then to come here to Europe and actually win the first ever Ladies Event at the World Series Europe, I’m honored and, obviously, beside myself with happiness,” the Team 888 Poker Pro commented after her victory.
The Australian professional bested a 65 woman field in which only the top 7 made the money.
Event #2, the €1,100 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry, saw a combined field of 659 (103 of which are re-entries) take their shot at what amounted to a €632,640 prizepool with €129,700 up top for first place.
The money bubble burst at 72 with notable players Chris Klodnicki, Dominik Nitsche, Jonathan Karamalikis, Scott Clements, Jake Balsinger, Jeff Madsen, Sam Holden and Barry Greenstien all cashing before busting. As the tables redrew with 27 runners left, World Poker Tour Champion David “Chino” Rheem found himself short stacked, but still in contention.
The €5,000 + €300 Mixed Max bracelet event got underway on Monday. The event which has players performing in a variety of game types from full-ring to six-handed, then 4-max and eventually heads-up, is expected to be one of the most star-studded events of the series.
