Just days after BetMGM Poker rolled out a software upgrade in New Jersey, the operator has now added the lottery-style sit-and-go product, SPINS to its game offerings.
SPINS is the operator’s take on the ultra-popular lottery sit-and-go (LSNG) format, where players compete for randomized prize pools in three-handed hyper-turbo games. Prizes for the tournaments usually range from two times the buy-in to as high as 1200x the buy-in.
SPINS are currently available to BetMGM Poker New Jersey players at four different buy-ins: $1, $5, $10, and $25, with the top prize pools varying from $1000 to $25,000 — precisely in line with the offerings in Pennsylvania and Michigan.
However, one difference is that the SPINS in New Jersey does not include the Ultra variant — a faster version of LSNG. Instead, they are offered in the traditional form, with players receiving 500 starting stacks and blinds going up every 3 minutes. At the same time, the SPINS at BetMGM Poker MI & BetMGM Poker PA offer both the Ultra variant and the standard version. Omitting the Ultra variant in NJ could be because of regulatory reasons.
Along with BetMGM Poker NJ, SPINS have also been added to partypoker NJ and Borgata Poker NJ — skins which share the same player pool with BetMGM in the Garden State.
The launch of SPINS in New Jersey means that every jurisdiction in North America where BetMGM operates offers such a format. When BetMGM went live in Pennsylvania in conjunction with Borgata, the operator spread SPINS to PA players from day 1. However, when BetMGM entered the market in Michigan, SPINS games were nowhere to be found.
At the time, pokerfuse inquired with BetMGM whether the operator planned to deploy SPINS in its other two states. The operator confirmed expansion plans, but the timeframe was not provided. A few months later, the operator added SPINS in Michigan — becoming the second US state with such an offering. Only New Jersey had been left out, while the operator deployed LSNGs right from the beginning in Ontario.
The launch of SPINS in New Jersey is yet another sign of BetMGM’s preparations for launching shared liquidity in the US market. Last month, the operator upgraded BetMGM NJ’s client to align it with the software used in Michigan.
The software upgrade came with various new features that had already been in use in Pennsylvania and Michigan. These included Run It Twice (RIT), gamified features such as throwables and emojis, improvements to filters, support for real names, and more.

When the merging between BetMGM NJ & BetMGM MI might take place is anyone’s guess, but based on the scheduling of promotions, it looks unlikely it will happen before 2023. The operator is currently running myriad promotions, including three different tournament series in all three states. These are scheduled to run from December 11 to 18.
Meanwhile, the operator will also run a special 6-figure Flagship Sundays and Monster Mondays in each market until December 31.
First, the software upgrade and then the deployment of SPINS in New Jersey suggests the operator is preparing for the merger between the two state platforms.
