World Poker Tour To Remain On Fox Sports For The Next Five Years

Fans of the World Poker Tour can breath a sigh of relief as the WPT recently reached an agreement to remain on Fox Sports for another five years until Season XIX.

The next five season of the WPT will have 13 additional hours of original content to supplement their standard programing, including two WPT marathons each season, the first of which aired last month over the Labor Day holiday.

Since 2009 when the WPT first premiered on Fox Sports, the WPT has reached over 215 million viewers in the US with an average of 900,000 peopel tuning in each week.

“This announcement is great for fans of the WPT” said Adam Pliska, President and CEO of the WPT. “We are proud of our new deal with FOX Sports, and we thank the network for its continued support and promotion of our content across its television and digital platforms.”

A $1 million guaranteed Main Event takes place next week as the WPT hosts the Season XV World Poker Tour bestbet Bounty Scramble. The $5000 buy-in Main Event highlights the 23-event festival that began last week.

In addition to the cash prize and customary entry into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions, the winner of this year’s WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble champion will also receive a luxurious Hublot King Power Unico Carbon and Red watch.

The last of three $550 buy-in Mega satellites runs Thursday, October 13 and guarantees 10 seats to the Main Event.

A special $1100 No-Limit Hold’em 10-Hour Ironman event is planned for October 16. The unique event will end after 10 hours with the prize money divided between all those that remain based on chip counts.
