A day after announcing a deal with the Ante Up Poker Tour, the Global Poker Index (GPI) has declared a new deal with Card Player Latin America. The ranking formula developed by GPI will be used to determine the Card Player Latin America Player of the Year.

“I’m extremely honored to work with such a respected company as the Global Poker Index/The Hendon Mob….I hope this gives players an extra incentive to play more tournaments and to follow their progress trying to become the Player of the Year,” said Brian Saslavchik, Coordinador General of CardPlayer Latin America.

The CardPlayer Latin America tournament series takes place in South American countries such as Argentina and Uruguay. The first event qualifying for Player of the Year points starts in February.

GPI CEO Alexandre Dreyfus is aggressively expanding the use of the ranking formula, having bought The Hendon Mob, home of the poker industry’s premiere live tournament results database, and having struck a deal with PocketFives, a popular online poker tournament community. “Latin America is becoming a hotbed of poker,” Dreyfus said. “The fact that this association gives us even more of a presence in a booming market is fantastic news!”
