For the second time in as many months, 888poker headed to The Vic in London and, once again, it was a thorough success. The 888poker LIVE Weekend London was headlined by a £444 Main Event while the Chris Eubank Jr. Knockout Challenge featured the new cultural ambassador in action.

While the storm rallied outside one of the most well-known casinos in the UK, the chips were flying inside. Thanks to 602 entries, the flagship poker tournament created a massive prize pool of £240,800 for yet another stellar turnout in an 888-branded live event at the venue.

Earlier in 2022, the operator headed to the very same venue in the heart of London, where it awarded more than £1 million in prize money throughout the 888poker LIVE London 2022 festival last month. Spurred on by the immense success of the January outing, 888 followed up with a second return to live poker at the Vic from February 17 to 20.

The £444 Main Event consisted of five starting days, four of which were hosted at The Vic while Day 1a took place at Grosvenor Casino’s Luton location. Only 155 players out of the 602 entries survived their respective Day 1s to try and secure a min-cash of £990. The final showdown unfolded on February 20 and the UK’s Joe Hindry defeated Brazil’s Rodrigo Gwaderaaze to claim the top prize worth £60,000.

The four-day long festival was about much more than just the flagship tournament — festivities also included the 888 Stream Team members and brand ambassadors in a special Play With Friends episode. Portuguese streamer Ricardo Mateus went all the way and, not only secured the bragging rights but also an invitation to the next 888poker LIVE event later in 2022.

Another 888 streamer also had reason to celebrate, as David Gibson defeated Salvatore Sciarotta in the Chris Eubank Jr Knockout Challenge. Sciarotta was one of several dozen 888 online qualifiers for this special event and also knocked out the new cultural ambassador for a sweet payday of £10,000.

With the latest live event wrapped up, the focus of 888 will be back on the virtual arena where they are currently hosting the Millions Superstorm tournament series with $2 million in guarantees. Six headline tournaments are part of the schedule and the early trend of overlays in the first two events has continued.

Completed 888Millions Events

Event # Buy-in Guarantee Total Entries Gross Overlay
Event #1 $109 $200,000 1,851 $14,900
Event #2 $11 $50,000 4,761 $2,390
Event #3 $215 $250,000 973 $55,400
Event #4 $33 $100,000 3,229 $3,130

This past weekend, the last two 888Millions Events played to a winner and to a nine-handed final table, respectively. One week prior, the $109 Opening Event attracted 1,509 unique players and 342 re-entries to cause a $14,900 overlay. That was followed by a minor overlay of $2,390 in Event #2 based on 4,761 total entries for the $11 bargain buy-in.

Another small overlay emerged in Event #4, which came with a $33 price tag and $100,000 guarantee. The 2,660 unique players purchased 569 re-entries and the respective overlay was $3,130.

However, the far bigger dent was caused in Event #3 which featured an elevated buy-in of $215. With 836 unique players, it was already a tall task to meet the $250,000 guarantee. Another 137 rebuys helped somewhat but could not avoid a sizable overlay of $55,400.

Remaining 888Millions Events

Event # Buy-in Guarantee Day 2 Entries So Far Required to Cover
Event #5 $1,050 $1,000,000 7/3 247 1,000
Event #6 $55 $150,000 6/3 79 3,000

Another two marquee events remain on the schedule and multiple starting days are available for both. The $1,050 Main Event has attracted 247 entries so far and 1,000 are required to meet the $1 million guarantee. Several flights have already been completed and many more are to follow.

The first starting days for Event #6 with a $55 buy-in have now also concluded as well. With a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000, it appears to be an event not to miss for all mid-stakes grinders, who have until Sunday, March 6, to get in on the action.

888’s Millions SuperStorm concludes on March 8 with the live-streamed final table of the $1,050 Main Event.
