ChampionChip Series Back at 888poker ChampionChip Series Back at 888poker

The time is here, and the ChampionChip Games are underway on 888poker. The first official events got underway on August 8, but Main Event Day 1 games have already been running for a while. There is more than $700,000 guaranteed across the series, with most of that locked away in the huge $500,000 guaranteed ChampionChips Main Event.

The athletic themed series is scheduled to run from August 8 to August 15 with a total of 25 events across a wide range of buy-ins. Every day of the schedule has three different events running, with low, medium, and high buy-ins to cater to all bankroll levels.

Day 1 flights for the $500,000 guaranteed Main Event have been running for a while now, and there are more than 4,200 entries already in the game. The event needs almost 11,000 players to hit the optimistic guarantee, but with multiple Day 1 flights per day and and more than a third of the guarantee secured already, it’s not an impossible goal.

ChampionChip Schedule Summary

Total Events 25
Total Buy-Ins $354
Average Buy-In $15
Max Buy-In $55
Min Buy-In $2.20
Total Gtd $735,500
Average Gtd $30,646
Avg Gtd/Buy-In $1,294.19

So far, the results have been solid. The first day saw the biggest game break guarantee by more than 33%, and while the two smaller events didn’t hit their guarantees, they both came close, and the rake collected on the big game alone covered the shortfall in the two smaller events.

The Games Begin

ChampionChip GamesAs is common for big sports festivals, the ChampionChip Games started with the Opening Ceremony, a $33 buy-in event with $30,000 guaranteed. There were 1,374 total entries made up of 1,053 unique players with 321 rebuys, putting $41,220 into the prize pool.

The 1,374 entries in the Opening Ceremony also earned more than $4,000 in rake for 888poker, which helped cover their losses in the two smaller events on the opening day. The High Jump and the Triple Jump were $5.50 and $2.20 rebuy-addon games with $10,500 guaranteed between them. Neither managed to hit its guarantee, but between them, the games only missed by a little over $2,000.

Both the High Jump and Triple Jump games were identified by pokerfuse as high-value games, and with the overlay, that ended up being even more true.

The Main Event is the highest value event in the series by far, and there has already been a lot of interest in the Day 1 flights. They need almost 11,000 entries to make the $500,000 guarantee, but more than 4,000 players have already tried to get a Day 2 seat with 691 players already booking a seat for the final day on August 16.

Play the Games or Cheer the Action on Twitch

There is still plenty of action coming up in the ChampionChip Games with six more days of regular competition, followed by Day 2 of the Main Event on August 16. Players still have lots of chances to get into that final day of the $500,000 event, with Day 1 flights running several times a day for $50.

Even if you don’t want to play the games, you can still catch the action as a spectator. 888poker recently announced its new stream team and the 888pokerTV channel. With ambassador Vivian Saliba streaming much of her action, there are all sorts of ways for fans to catch some action from the Twitch rail.

There is still a lot of value left in the ChampionChips Games. Action goes through August 16, so there is lots of time to catch some of the action.
