Gala Casino Poker Relaunches on iPoker

Gala Casino has left the Ongame network and relaunched on Playtech’s iPoker network.

iPoker is the largest poker network serving international players, and the second largest pool of players after PokerStars, according to PokerScout. Ongame is fifth with about 2/3 the number of regular players.

Owner GalaCoral also owns the Eurobet.it site regulated by AAMS, the Italian State Regulator. Eurobet.it uses the iPoker network so the relationship with Playtech is well established.

Ongame was recently sold by bwin.party to Shufflemaster and has seen a loss of other customers since the acquisition. Unibet’s recently purchased Bet24 and moved its players from Ongame onto the Microgaming Network with the rest of the Unibet’s players.

GalaCoral has been restructuring the company significantly in recent weeks. It has announced the sale of 23 brick and mortar casinos in the UK to Rank PLC, which is owned by a giant Malaysian company called the Guoco Group.

Even though GalaCoral closed its Eurobet.com site at the end of last year, it would appear that the company is increasing its focus on its online gaming businesses.

Gala Coral Group Limited has almost 19,000 employees, the majority of whom are employed in its traditional betting operations. It is one of the UK’s largest private companies and dates back to 1926 when Joe Coral started to take bets on greyhound races.
