Nearly 800 players in the $10,000 buy-in World Series of Poker Main Event still remain after Day 3.
A total of 1011 players celebrated reaching the money. For their efforts, the players that cashed received a minimum of $15,000, with many more having the chance to score a much higher payday including the eventual 2016 Main Event champion who will receive $8,000,000 in prize money.
The Bubble Bursts
Just after midnight, Adam Furgatch of Marina Del Rey, CA was knocked out in 1012th place, one spot short of the money. Though technically finishing on the money bubble, Furgatch did earn an entry into next year’s Main Event somewhat easing the pain of missing out on the $15,000 min cash.
Soon after the crowd erupted into applause acknowledging Furgatch and the remaining players that would receive a payday, short-stacked players began to drop like flies. With just over an hour of play left more than 300 players cashed in their dream of a deep run for a $5000 profit as the field was whittled down to less than 800 players by the time they began bagging chips.
Notable Chip Stacks
Leading the pack headed into Day 4 is Kenny Hallaert from Hansbeke Belgium with a 1.7 million chip stack.
Not far behind is “The Magician,” Antonio Esfandiari who has amassed nearly 1.4 million in chips and sits in 7th place.
Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Shaun Deeb and Eugene Katchalov are all near the top as well, sitting in 11th, 12th and 13th place respectively.
Play resumes on Friday at noon as the field moves towards the November Nine.
