There is plenty going on in the poker world we thought we would provide a guide for those that do not have time to monitor the happenings on a daily basis. So whether you are a weekend warrior, a high-powered exec or somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered with our recommendations of what to do this weekend.

Let’s take a look at some of the activities on tap.

WHERE TO PLAY LIVE POKER

It is no secret that the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City is in full swing.

Thousands of New Jersey poker players (and quite a few from the surrounding states too) have flocked to the Borgata Poker Room this month to participate in the BPO, which will be hosting a handful of events this weekend.

Among the most prestigious tournaments on tap for this weekend is Day 1a (Sunday at 11:00am) of the $3 million guaranteed World Poker Tour Borgata Championship. The No Limit Hold’em tournament buy-in is $3,300+200, with plenty of satellite opportunities to get you in the re-entry event before registration closes early next week.

There is also a $100,000 guaranteed deep stacked event which begins Saturday at 11:00am with a $350+50 buy-in.

Those who enjoy playing poker for a good cause can do so this Saturday at 5:00pm with the $130+40+$130 Charity Series of Poker tournament. This event will earmark a large percentage of the proceeds toward Habitat for Humanity.

WHAT TO PLAY ONLINE

If online poker is more along the lines of what you have in mind this weekend, you can try your hand at satellite events or buy-in directly to major Sunday tournaments. The $200,000 guaranteed Garden State Super Series (GSSS) Main Event takes place on Borgata Poker New Jersey this Sunday at 5:00pm ($200 buy-in). It will coincide with more than a dozen online events on the New Jersey based website.

If you’d like to participate in a $25,000 guaranteed Sunday major on WSOP.com, New Jersey residents may do so by paying the $200+15 entry fee or earning a seat via satellite.

There are also plenty of events for Nevada online poker players to enjoy via WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker this weekend. Over at WSOP.com players in Nevada can jump in a $15,000 guaranteed event on Sunday at 3pm.

WHAT TO LISTEN TO

Audio-based poker entertainment has been flourishing in recent years thanks to the launch of several top-quality podcasts which feature interviews with high profile players as well as updates on current events within the poker industry.

The most recent PokerNews podcast (released Thursday) features Poker Night in America Creative Director Nolan Dalla, who discusses the recent Poker Hall of Fame finalist list. Mr. Dalla is rarely short on opinions and considering the polarizing nature of HOF discussions, this looks to be a good listen.

Want to know what Poker HOF nominee thinks of the process and criteria that puts him and others on the ballot? Then check out The Rundown from the guys over at Bluff as the welcome Daniel Negreanu on to their show to discuss the topic.

And for yet another perspective on the topic, check out the Ante Up podcast where Chris and Scott provide a poker fan’s point of view.

If you are looking for some strategy discussion, or just want some entertainment that can help you at the tables, poker training website Tournament Poker Edge has a new podcast out in which Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek provides a review of a hand from the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open High Roller.

WHAT TO WATCH

Season 2 of Jason Sommerville’s “RunItUp” series sponsored by Ultimate Poker has already seen the release of more than ten episodes since the month began. It is an entertaining watch for just about any poker fan, and can be accessed via YouTube.

For those who prefer network television, the conclusion of the Bay 101 Shooting Star World Poker Tour Main Event will air Friday at 4:00pm Eastern Time on the Fox Sports Network.

Poker Night in America continues this Sunday at 10pm Eastern Time on the CBS Sports Network. The show takes a different approach to the game of poker by casting well-known pros in a cash game with amateur players.
