Ultimate Poker’s (UP) release of an upgraded software client and VIP benefits program has helped cash game activity jump 30%.

The software upgrade included various new features, like re-sizeable tables, avatars, and preset bet buttons.

Traffic reached a three month low earlier this month. However, since the v2 release, cash game traffic has rebounded, returning to around 200 average concurrent seats filled. The new software features make for much easier multi-tabling and may have led to a higher average table count per player.

There were many technical issues when v2 rolled out, including an inaccessible cashier, halted tournaments, disappearing tables and a bug that required UP to remove all minimum buyins from cash tables. These issues were still resolved, though memory issues still affect a subset of users.

The new VIP benefits program, which also came in v2, may also be responsible for higher activity. The system, which offers ten tiers of reward levels and awards points on a Winner Takes All basis, is slanted towards high volume players with substantial cash bonuses at the higher levels.
