Cake Poker Moves to Avoid Possible Domain Seizure Cake Poker Moves to Avoid Possible Domain Seizure

Cake Poker has taken a proactive initiative and moved their primary domain from cakepoker.com to cakepoker.eu. The move follows domain seizures of other popular online poker sites over the last few months.

Cake Poker is not the first online poker room to try to stay ahead of the US Government. Bodog moved their primary domain to bodog.eu last month.

In April the US Department of Justice seized the domain names of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, UB, and Absolute Poker on what is now known in the poker world as Black Friday. Temporarily moving to .eu and .co.uk domain names, PokerStars and FTP were able to regain their dot-coms through negotiations with the US Government. UB and Absolute Poker still operate from their dot-net counterparts.

In May the assault on online poker continued when domains of Yatahay poker rooms DoylesRoom and True Poker were among ten taken by US authorities in the Blue Monday seizures. Both sites now operate on Antigua and Barbuda “.ag” domains.
