PokerStars, Party and 888 Among 38 Operators Awarded Danish License

Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) announced on Thursday that 38 operators have been awarded licenses to operate online casinos, poker and sports betting under the new regulatory framework to go live on January 1, 2012.

Among those listed include PokerStars (under the name Reel Denmark Limited), 888, Betfair, PKR, Ladbrokes and Unibet. As announced earlier today, Bet24 and Scandic Bookmakers were also listed among other Ongame skins.

In total, over 180 “dot.dk” domain names will be permitted to offer online gaming to Danish customers. Operators will pay a 20% tax on gross gaming revenue, and IP restrictions may be put in place to bar access to unlicensed operators.

According to the latest reports, player pools on Danish poker rooms do not need to be segregated from the international market. Requirements are put in place to allow players to self-exclude and impose their own deposit limits, but the regulations do not impose any arbitrary restrictions on games played. Danish residents will be required to go through a verification procedure before playing.
