When WSOP MI joined the Michigan online poker scene on March 28, 2022, it became the second jurisdiction where the operator rolled out a new platform with brand new software.

While the WSOP multi-state player pool in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware runs using a classic version of 888’s poker software, the newest rooms — first in PA and now in MI — run with the same version of the software that global customers on 888poker have been enjoying for some time now.

Online poker in Michigan got some fresh blood with the world’s most recognizable live poker brand entering the fray more than a year after the Michigan market went live in early 2021 joining two competitors already active in the Wolverine State.

Michigan marks the third distinct player pool that WSOP serves in the US online poker market, adding to the NJ/NV/DE combined pool, and the geofenced WSOP PA player pool. When WSOP PA went live in July of 2021, it marked the first time US online poker players had a chance to sample partner 888poker’s latest software suite, Poker 8.

The launch in Michigan means there are now two states playing on the latest version of the poker backend with more likely to come.

This new version of the software is a significant improvement over the classic version running in the NJ/NV/DE market. While that older version is perfectly functional, the newer version updates both the look and functionality of the client to bring it more in line with modern software design.

A New Look for WSOP MI

WSOP MI launched with the latest version of the poker backend offered by its US partner 888poker. The new version brings a fresh look to Michigan online poker players, putting them on par with the software global players on 888poker have been enjoying for some time now.

The new software is an improvement over the previous version in a number of ways, including enhanced filtering ability, a sleeker and more modern look, and a more responsive client.

New WSOP MI Software Layout

MI online poker players are greeted by a fresh new layout when they open WSOP MI for the first time. The main screen is divided into three main panes, with banners and account-specific features in a small pane at the top of the screen, a menu-based navigation pane on the left side of the client, and the main pane filling most of the screen.

Players can navigate easily to exactly the games they want to play, either through the navigation menu on the left, or the Quick Start icons. Lobbies for each kind of game are intuitive and clean, with easy access to all relevant information, and each game type has a filter panel specific to the needs of that particular style, giving players a huge amount of control over what games they see.

WSOP MI Cash Game LobbyWSOP MI Tournament LobbyThe cash game lobby has an icon-based filtering system at the top of the screen, however, players can switch between the icon-based view and a more traditional list-based view just above the filter bar. No matter the view a player chooses, it is very easy to find the game they want to play.

Poker 8’s Enhanced Filters

WSOP MI Expanded Tournament FiltersThe new filter functionality in the WSOP MI software is a significant improvement over the older version of the software, and the difference is most keenly felt in the tournament lobby. The expandable filter pane at the top of the lobbies not only gives players easy access to see just the games they want to see but the expand/collapse feature lets them set filters, then leave them in the background by collapsing the pane.

The filters provide an excellent and detailed way for players to drill down and customize their game display. Every option that a user could want is in the expanded list, including game types, buy-in ranges, and game speed. Once a player sets the filters to their desires, collapsing them keeps them on while maximizing the screen real estate left over for the list of games.

The newest operator on the Michigan online poker scene has jumped into the market with a very competitive client. WSOP MI players have access to a very modern playing environment like their compatriots in PA, and it bodes well for the operator’s success in the Great Lake State.
