The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Aussie Millions draws to a close this weekend, and the big names among the remaining 14 players indicate a high profile final table.

Scott Seiver leads from Sorel Mizzi with Jake Balsiger, Erik Seidel, Ami Barer and Eoghan O’Dea all on playable stacks. PokerStars pros Jonathan Duhamel, Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree and Raymond Wu all looked good with 36 players left, but have fallen by the wayside as the field has rapidly reduced.

This is the first year the Aussie Millions has been part of the APPT, and tour owner PokerStars would have relished the media attention if its sponsored pros had filled the final table.

The $10.6k event saw 668 enter, with the money distributed to the top 72. This is Sorrel Mizzi’s fourth deep run in the Aussie Millions, but Eric Seidel is the man who loves the event the mos:. Over the years, he has won almost $5m at the event, more than any other Aussie Millions player.

Friday sees the start of the $100k high roller tournament, which will now lack some of the players who would otherwise have played. Usually this would be the big buy in of event of any major tournament program, but at the Aussie Millions, a $250k buy in super high roller takes pride of place. It is neatly programmed to start on Sunday.
