Day 1 of the £100,000 buy-in WPT Alpha8 event in London got off to a late start Monday as only ten players were sat at the official start time.

In total 19 players have entered, with registration remaining open for the first blind level of play on Day 2. Eleven players from Day 1 have survived; Tobias Reinkemeir will start the day as chip leader, surrounded by a host of poker celebrities.

Tony G, whose mind is at least partly occupied by his plans to stand as a member of the European Parliament, is in third place. Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, who is up over $5m in cash games in the last month, is in fifth place.

Jolly Scott Seiver is in seventh and business man Talal Shakerchi is still in with a shot in tenth place, just ahead of Steven Silverman. Silverman won the inaugural WPT Alpha8 held in late August this year at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida.

The bwin.party-owned tournament brand has announced another stop for the WPT Alpha8 Series: The Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino in Christophe Harbour, St. Kitts in the Caribbean.

Several big name players have already confirmed their attendance, including Tobias Reinkemeier, Dan Bilzerian, and Erik Seidel.

Hedge fund manager Bill Perkins of Skylar Capital Management has a home in St Kitts and is looking forward to what will be for him a local tournament.

“Being able to enjoy my hobby and hone my skills alongside these pro players, all near the natural beauty and warm waters of St. Kitts, will be brilliant,” he is quoted as saying.
