By the end of the day, Pokerstars' marquee event of the year—the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP)—will be at the half way mark and all signs point to it being a colossal success.

The prestigious online series, now in its 12th year, has promised lofty prize pools for each of its tournaments. Thus far, all tournament guarantees have been met and exceeded.

With a guarantee of $40M for the entire 66 event series, including a massive $8M guarantee on its $5200 Main Event on September 29, the series finds itself in a position to blow that number out of the water. Enthusiasm for the schedule and large player turnout have helped the online giant best its total guarantees by over $8.5M.

Eight of the tournaments guarantees were exceeded by $500k or more. Additionally, nearly $25M in cash has been dished out to those who have made it into the money.

Those prize pools aren’t the only thing players have contributed to during WCOOP. Through the first 30 events spanning ten days, PokerStars has accumulated approximately $1.5M in rake/tournament fees for the series alone.

There is still plenty of time to get in on the action as the WCOOP is running three events a day all the way through September 29. Satellites for every WCOOP event are available as well. For WCOOP scheduling and tournament results visit the WCOOP website.
